Blink and You’ll Miss It All
Before humans arrived, more than 80% of New Zealand was covered in trees. Most of the North Island and nearly all of the South Island – except Central Otago and the Mackenzie Basin – was forested.Logging involves cutting down trees. The people who cut them down are called loggers. The trees that they cut down are sold and used to build things, to make products and to generate heat and power. Over the past two centuries, many of the trees in New Zealand have been cut down by loggers.
Hey Coree
ReplyDeleteYou have found some very interesting facts about the history of logging in New Zealand. I didn't know that about 80% on New Zealand was covered in trees. Though now that I think about it, that makes sense.
Do you think that logging in New Zealand should be banned? Or Do you think that it should just be lessened?
Let me know!
Izzy
Hi Coree,
ReplyDeleteIt's Leslie here, a member of the Summer Learning Journey team.
As Izzy says, you've written down some good information about logging in New Zealand, but you haven't said what you think about whether or not logging should be allowed. We can't give you any points for this activity if you don't add a little more to this posting, telling us what you think about logging and why you think it should or shouldn't continue.
Perhaps you were trying to be a little too speedy in making your way through the activities. Just take your time, reading them through and posting your answers. There's no rush.
I'll check back on your blog to see if you've tried again.
Cheers,
Leslie
