Looks don't matter

Image result for Be you
Don't be afraid of who you are and how you look because none of that matters. You are you and you were born to be you.If someone has a problem with how you look they must not see the real world.
Many people think if you look a certain way you have a lot of friends and have no problems in life.
A lot of these people have many probkems because everyday they wake up they have to look a certain way.
I hope that people don't care what they look like because that dosen't matter all that matters is that your happy with who you are. Even Shane Dawson dosen't care about how he looks...He found friends that didn't care too! Everyone should be their own person.

On The Darkest Nights (Poem Written by: Me)

On the darkest Nights
The wind blows against your window
The dark feels like your all alone
The silence of night feels like fear
Your wondering if someone is there
Floor boards creaking
Maybe someones peeking
Cover your face
Door opens, You peak a little
Heart beats fast
Then you realise your father is there
Checking up on you to see if your ok
You fall back to sleep and noticed it was all just a dream

Concluding Our Journey! ;)

Summer Learning Journey has sadly came to a end...
I hope you guys liked coming along with me :)
Let's answer some questions! :) <3

What is one thing that you learned from participating in the Summer Learning Journey programme this year?
I learnt that even when you are behind you can catch up Like I did and also I learnt new things about animals and pollution
What is one thing that surprised you?
That the main pollution comes fromt he things we use like cars,Motors etc..
What is one thing that concerned or upset you?
That kiwi's are being eaten by rats and stuff..
What is one thing that you (or your family) can do, moving forward, to help protect our natural environment?
We can plant more plants and trees to protect pollution and stuff :)

If you have any questions please tell me in the comments! <3
Thank you for coming along this journey with me! :) <3

Have a great year! <3

Adoption Day

Hi People,
Today's Blog Is the 2nd to last blog post of summer learning journey! :)
I hope you have been enjoying my blog post and learnt things :)

Not only can you help the planet by reducing, reusing and recycling, you can also help to save animals and plants by adopting them. To adopt an animal through the World Wildlife Fund you need to visit their adopt a species page, read through the list of animals and choose one.

With the WWF, you don’t actually adopt the animal and bring it home! It’s a symbolic adoption. In this case you pay a fee ($55.00) and the money is used to provide food and care for your chosen animal. Visit the WWF site and take a look at the animals who are available for adoption

Animals I have choosen:
Pygmy Rabbit(Pygmy Rabbit)
Kangaroo       (Kangaroo)
Snowy Owl     (Snowy owl)

These are all similar that they all hve fur (Well DUHH)
They are all native animals as well :)
They are all different because they can all do different things like Fly and bounce and kick

3 Animals I would like to adopt:
Polar Bear        (Polar bear)
Snow Leopard  (Snow leopard)
Arctic Fox       (Arctic Fox)

Environment Day - Beat Plastic Pollution

Every year we celebrate World Environment Day in June. On World Environment Day we do what we can to protect our planet. This year the focus is on reducing the use of plastic bags and water bottles. Watch this Environment Day video to learn more! http://worldenvironmentday.global/

What could you and your family do to protect the planet?

Me and my family could Plant trees and plant's by the river but....My family is too lazy so..I guess we could try

What would you do?

#BeatPlasticpollution

The Plastic Pledge

Over the past few decades some of New Zealand’s beaches have become dumping grounds for waste and rubbish. Almost 80% of this waste is made up of plastic items. (WOW)
Some companies in New Zealand have heard about the problem and agreed to cut down on their use of plastic. Countdown supermarkets, for example, have announced that they will stop
giving out plastic
bags to customers.  What do you think of this idea? What do your friends and family think? Is it a good idea or not?

I think countdown is smart because if one store stops it might inspire another store :)
My family might be annoyed when we forget the bag but we will just buy a new one <3

Campaigning for Conservation

New Zealand is home to so many beautiful and unique and sometimes endangered animals and habitats. The Forest & Bird organisation is working really hard to protect vulnerable animals and places in NZ. They are doing everything that they can to raise money and to raise awareness so that everyone knows about these issues.
Imagine, that you have been hired by Forest & Bird New Zealand to work on one of their campaigns. It is your job to come up with a catchy slogan for the campaign. A slogan is a short phrase or
\/  sentence that is used to advertise something Like these: \/

My Champaign is Plastic free:
Plastic Free = More Species

What do you think?

What would yours be?

Restricted Access

One of the most unusual and spectacular sites to visit outside of New Zealand is called Machu Picchu. It is an ancient city that was built high up in the mountains in the country of Peru in South America. You have to take a train and/or walk through a series of mountains and valleys to reach it.
Over the past few decades millions of tourists have made the trek to Machu Picchu. Unfortunately, this has damaged the area and the local government has decided to restrict the number of visitors to the site each year. This decision has upset a lot of tourists who really want to see Machu Picchu but aren’t allowed to go.
What do I think?
I think it is fair because the damage may be bad and something bad might happen when lots of people go so there is a reason for a limit.Tourist need to learn that Machu Picchu Is damaged and is restricted for a good reason :)

Predator Free 2050 – A Call to Arms

Image result for kiwi
There is currently a huge drive to get rid of all predators from New Zealand. Predators are animals that in some way damage our natural environment and Many organisations are working hard to accomplish this goal.
I watched 3 videos and the one that really got my attention was this one:https://vimeo.com/271173180
Why?
Cause I hate rats and stuff...
And because rats eat our kiwi's and the kiwi's are in danger :(
So the guy decided to put a tracker thingy to see what they are up to (To see it they have eggs and to see if rats are near so they can save them)
This video is very good for people that don't understand why kiwi's are in danger.
Thank you for reading! :)

A House is Not a Home

New Zealand is home to some unique wildlife that cannot be found anywhere else in the world. While we work very hard to protect our natural habitats so do people living and working in other countries. One of the oldest international wildlife conservation organisations is called Fauna & Flora International. They support a number of projects around the world Including those working to protect Lansan trees in the Caribbean, fruit forests in Tajikistan and national reserves in Mozambique.

The project I found most interesting is this one:
Conserving the Tonkin snub-nosed monkey in Vietnam
The critically endangered Tonkin snub-nosed monkey has been at the centre of FFI’s primate conservation activities for well over a decade. In 2002 and 2007...FFI surveys led to the discovery of two key populations of the species in Khau Ca forest and Ha Giang Province and later in Tung Vai watershed protection forest in Quan Ba district and Ha Giang province on the border with China.
I chose this because I think monkeys are cute and now they are in danger...What has this world turned into?

A Protective Plant

There are concerns about the water quality of some of the rivers/streams and oceans in and around New Zealand. Some people have suggested that we plant flowers and plants on the banks of our most polluted rivers to stop the spread of the pollution. Apparently...The plants can act as filters and start to absorbe some of the chemicals that are moving across the land on their way to the river.
If I had a garden...10 plants I would have in it is:
Strawberries
Potatoes
Pumpkins
Carrots
Lettuce
On the fence would be Grapes
Peanuts
Watermelon
Broccoli
Mint
What would you grow in your garden?
(If i were to add trees I would add and lemon tree,Apple,Orange and more)

A Flying Fox

Image result for zipline in rotoruaA Flying Fox
New Zealand has some of the most beautiful forests in the world...Both New Zealanders and tourists like to enjoy walking through these forests.Unfortunately people constantly walking through forests can damage the plants and animals that live there.People can zipline from one section of the forest to another, looking down on the beautiful natural areas below. To see what ziplining looks like, check out this video. How would you feel if you had the chance to go ziplining in Rotorua?

Related imageImage result for zipline in rotoruaIf I were to go zip lining across the forest I would be jumping with excitement but...When I get on it I'll be scared as heck and I'll be regretting jumping on.Zipping across why heart will start to slow down because I know that I'm safe.A thing i'd be worried about stopping in the middle of it because then I would freak out and will jump everywhere because I'm not to good with high things so yeah...

What would you do??

The Sky in Shanghai

The air pollution in Beijing, one of the largest cities in China, can get so bad that roads are closed, flights are cancelled and events are postponed while they wait for the smog in the air to clear. The terrible pollution is also having deadly effects as, approximately, 1.1 million people in China died last year from air pollution-related causes. The Chinese government is very concerned and they have introduced a number of strategies to reduce the pollution levels. Imagine that you were asked to travel to Beijing. How would you feel?
I would:
Nervous and Scared
What would happen if I died?
The pollution might be bad
But what happens if everyone there goes mad

This is a short poem of how I would feel :)

Guardians of the Sea

Image result for taniwha
One of the largest rivers in New Zealand is called the Waikato River. It is found in the central part of the North Island of New Zealand. The river was given the name Waikato by a group of men and women from the Tainui iwi who, legend has it, travelled down the Waikato years ago and settled in the area. According to Maori legend the Waikato River has hundreds of taniwha living in it, guarding the sea.

Unfortunately, the Waikato River has become polluted in recent years and is sometimes closed to the public. This is very upsetting for many people especially for those who believe that taniwha live in the river.

In the river they have spotted mysterious bubbles
What do I think it is?
I think it may be those things that are in the ponds like the tubes that blow water threw...People might think it is a taniwha but??? maybe not

World of Wearable (WOW) Art

If we want to protect our natural world, we must be thoughtful about what we make, how we make it and how we throw it away. At the moment, the waste in New Zealand is separated into two main categories:Recycled items and,Non-recycled items. Most of the rubbish is collected by rubbish trucks and taken to a rubbish tip where it is dumped and never used again. Much of the recycled material is to taken to a place where it is sorted, separated and sent out to be used again.

Let’s imagine that you were invited to this year’s WOW awards and you were able to interview the creator.

Questions:
What got her into fashion?
Why she likes to reuse things?
Who inspired you?
When did you get into fashion?
How did you get your ideas?

Let it rain

Image result for acid rain

Let’s imagine that New Zealand was hit by a massive acid rain storm. Acidic rain fell for three days and three nights. When the rain fell, you stayed inside with your friends and family. When it stopped, however, you and your family decided to go for a walk outside. You opened the door and...

Me and My family would probably look outside a be SHOOK and would probably go for a drive after...When it stopped I would hope the tv turns on and then watch the news to see what they say and me I would probably just play on the laptop or something..Normally when the Wifi is off I would go and draw and then throw that drawing out and then I would do the same thing like 3 times then I will look outside again and think what the heck just happened...I would probaby ignore it to if I didn't care.My parents would probably want to know what we are doing because ya know everybody has that type of parents.I would be happy if it was over and done with because then I wouldn't have to care about it anymore and I would be able to go outside and see the trees then turn around and go back inside.

Persistent Pollution

I think a while ago I did a blog post on pollution in rivers and lakes now we are doing more :)
Air pollution:
Video I Watched
Air pollutions is made on Chemicals and particals that are in the atmosphere.
What causes air pollution?
Some air pollution comes from natural air sources
Things I learnt from the video is:
Most of the air pollution is from humans and the resources we use...Like cars and the oil..It get into the atmosphere and causes pollution...
What did you learn?

Wind Beneath My Wings

Flying Foxes

Not only is New Zealand home to many native birds but we also have a number of native bats. Some of these bats are really small while others are much larger. None, however, are as large as the largest bat in Australia. It is called the flying fox and it has a wingspan of up to 6 feet or 2 metres and That is taller than most of us! (SHOOK)
Flying Fox normally sleeps during the day and go hunting at night time for food.
If you could have a superpower, what would it be?

If I had a superpower I would have teleportation...cause then I can teleport to anywhere I want..It would also be really fun :)

Carbon Sinks Don’t Stink

Every day a chemical compound called carbon dioxide is produced and released into the air.  If it isn’t removed, it can be really bad for humans. Fortunately there are a number of places where Carbon dioxide is removed from the air. Two of the most common places are forests and oceans. They are called carbon sinks because they are like a sink they collect and clean and drain things away that we don’t want. One of the largest carbon sinks in New Zealand is a forest in the south-western part of the South Island. It drains away 60% of our unwanted carbon which is great for humans! :)
Let’s imagine that you could design a sink that could gather up and then drain away any foods that you don’t like..What woud you put in the sink???
I would put:
Brussel sprouts,Fish and all the food that aren't nice to me..Lol

Flying Fungi

During The Middle of winter it can get quite damp in New zealand and It normally cause ould and fungi like dude..It's gross.Let’s imagine that we tested the air in your classroom and found 7 different kinds of mould. The cleaner says that it takes 5 days for each mould to be eradicated (removed). If the school had to remove each mould one at a time, how long would it take to remove all the mould from the classroom?
5 x 7 = 35
It would take 35 days to clean all the fungi
Which is 5 weeks

Bee Informed

Hello,EVeryone knows a bumble bee right? If you don't it's like a little insect that can fly but it causes no harm.
The word ‘bumblebee’ is a compound word (bumble + bee). The word ‘bumble’ means to Humm or Buz

Bumblebees can fly very quickly. They can reach ground speeds of 54 kilometres per hour (km/h).

Bumblebees are very strong! They carry up to 90 percent of their body weight in food with them to avoid starvation.

Bumblebees can do more work and carry more pollen than other bees, including honeybees. In fact, they can do up to  50 times as much work as a normal honeybee.

The number of bumblebees is declining in New Zealand due to a number of factors, including the removal of wildflowers and flowering tress from the landscape and habitat loss.

Thanks For reading and I hope you have learned something :)

Faded Glory

The Great Barrier Reef is the world’s largest coral reef system..You can find it in the east coast of Australia.Over the past few years the corals have lot their colours and they lot it from tourist and cyclons...The Australian government is working to protect and preserve the reef. Each year they spend about $200 million dollars repairing and protecting the reef.I know that is alot of money but they need your help so that the reef can stay bright .

They could:
Go out into the public and ask people to fund raise to help
Go online and start a website and each person that signs up cn pay 10$ a month ro something or 5$
Make the tourist pay to see it?

Anyways..
On friday I may not post cause I am going somewhere but if I do come and comment and say Hi

Thank you for reading and...
Support the reef!

The Black Drain

New zealand! The land with Lots of dirty water I said it most of our lakes are too polluted to even swim in...One of the most polluted is the Tarawera River in the Bay of Plenty (Ewww Gross)
Many other rivers in New Zealand are also polluted with waste from businesses and farms (How rude are they??)
Manawatu river is also a polluted river and Some people may know this but Auckland is the area wiuth the most polluted rivers!!
Manawatu river is in  Wanganui in  the north island
In order to clean this the Horowhenua branch has joined the Manawatu Leaders Accord
Porirua Is another river/lake that is polluted the greens I think are helping clean it...
This river is found in the Wellington region.

Off the Menu

In New Zealand we love to eat fish and chips (Personally I don't *Cough Cough* Back to the blog)
But some of us don't know what could happen if they catch the fish in a area where they are not meant to fish.
If someone does fish there they could get a fine up to $100,000 (I know how rude is that)
But in Law you have to obey the rules and use the rules...What do I think of this??
I think that it can be could because some people just like disrespecting things but the bad thing is what if thy can't read (They would have there glasses..) or what if they don't even see the sign??
What do you think comment down below..
Thank you for reading this blog post and I hope you enjoyed...Come back later or tomorrow for more :)

Picture Perfect

In NEw ealand we have many different plces like waterfalls,Water holes,Pools and many more but in other countries they may of stepped it up a bit...Like in Canada,America and more..
Over the past few years people have started taking selfies and posting them on facebook and instagram. Do you ever take selfies? (Me personally I don't really but if it is for something yes...ok back to the blog)

(We now see a girl taking a selfie)
She must be taking it because it looks cool infront of all the buildings and the water because of how good the view is she must of thought yeah maybe I should hop in and take a photo with it.
She could also be thinking that since she is there she h to post a kinda good photo for the people looking at her instagram or something but yeah. This girl also looks like she is going to fall so if she falls and takes a photo it would be funny because her face would probably me smoshed.
It might go viral but that would be if she posted it...It might hurt but at least it become viral (*Cough cough* Not funny lol) She might be sending it to her friends to prove she is acually there and to show them how good the view is and that they should of been there with her but the didn't want to go cause they were to lazy (Lol).

Thank you for reading! ENjoy time with your family and make sure you behave :) <3

It’s All in the Name

Ahhhh Rotorua one of new zealands most beautiful land filled with trees, plants, rivers and more incredible things like a  mud pool.

One of the most famous geothermal pools is called the Devil’s Bath at Wai-o-Tapu Thermal Wonderland. It is a neon green pool of stinky water.

Over the years, people have suggested that we come up with a new name for the pool. What do you think we should call it? Take a moment to think then comment a answer :)

My three names are:
Stinky Neon Pool (I find this funny not cool lol)
Neon Green Wonderpool *
(Last of all) Pool of Wonders *
What would your names be?

Planes, Trains and Automobiles

Arguably, one of the most dramatic and spectacular places to visit in New Zealand is Milford Sound. It has been referred to as the eighth wonder of the world. It is a beautiful steep valley that was formed when big pieces of ice melted. The melted ice created a beautiful river that is surrounded by dramatic cliffs and snow top mountains. People who visit Milford Sound are able to take a boat cruise through the middle and walk around the area on the Milford Track or fly above the river/Lake as part of a private helicopter tour. (Which is really cool)

Let’s imagine that you had the chance to visit Milford Sound by boat, walking or In a private helicopter. Which would you like to go in?

I would chose helicopter cause then you can take photo's from a distance and that sounds really cool and also I've never been in a helicopter so that would be fun :)

What would you choose?

I hope you have enjoyed my blog post and if you like comment which you would take or which you prefer and maybe I'll reply <3

The midnight zone

In the ocean there are more then 3 layers to it in fact we have only found like 5 percent of the ocean which means 95% of the ocean remains a mystery.Deep in the ocean there is a area called the Midnight zone...It is very dark there and all we know is one of the most ugliest and scariest creatures live down there and it's name is...Colossal Squid..Yeah you heard it A Giant squid lives in the most scariest art of the ocean.
< This is the image of it

This squid weighs approximately 500 kg
Let’s imagine that the average adult can lift 25 kg and the average child can lift 15 kg. How many adults and children will it take to move the giant squid into its new room at Te Papa?

Let's try figure this out...
Adults-25kg (Can lift)
Child- 15 kg (Can lift)
Squid - 500 kg (Weighs)

5 adults - 125 kg (375 kg left)
9 children - 135 kg ( 240 kg left)
9 adults- 225 kg (15 left)
1 child (0 kg left)
You can try it my way or yours your choice :)
Have a great holidays! <3

A Local Delicacy

In New zealand we have many different fishes and some people like to eat the fish but me personally I don't like fish..Cooked or alive I don't like any because I just don't..Fish is some peoples favorite food...Whats yours??
My one is a Cheese Pizza
Ingredients to make a cheese Pizza Is:
Water,Salt,Oil,Tomato Paste/ pIzza sauce,Cheese,Flour

I don't know how to make it but I think you just Mix the Flour with the water then add a drop of oil and mix it together then add a pinch of salt and mix until it is formed then you just put it aside for a little while...While your doing thatyou may wanna preheat your oven Idk how much but just pre heat it...Then once it has heated up you wanna stick the dough in until it is half cooked (Remember to put it on cookie paper and put oil on it then stick it in the oven)..Then you wanna Pull it out once it is half cooked and you want to put the tomato sauce on it then the cheese then  put the pizza back in the oven and wait for it to fully cook. and WA LAAA it's done

Thank you for reading My Blog I hope you enjoyed! <3

Night Owls

In New Zealand we have lots of sea creatures including Penguins...

Night owls are people or animals that like to stay up late/early which means they don't really sleep during night time.Early risers are people that wake up around 5/6:00 am.
Coree (Me):None cause I like to go bed late but only in holidays but I don't wake up early either so...Im none
Monique (Little sister): I would say she is none but sometimes she will wake up but barely ever

Drew ( 3rd oldest sister):I would say she is both cause when it is holidays she staysup late when it is school days she wakes up early..Yeah

Jennifer (2nd Oldest sister): She would be none I think cause she barely stays up late and barely wakes up early so yeah...

Shaynah (Oldest SIster): I would not know cause she moved out so..Next
