  1. Hi Coree...great to see you blogging on the SLJ. There's still some time to complete the activities before school begins - how many more can you get done? Keep up the great work.

  2. Hi Coree,

It's Leslie here, a member of the Summer Learning Journey team.

You've done a great job of choosing a bird that's at risk and describing where it lives and what it eats. And you've posted a super photo as well. Good for you!

It is certainly a very handsome bird! Have you ever seen one yourself? Do you get to spend time at the beach in the summer?

We have petrels that live along our Canadian west coast and our east coast. Their colouring is a little different than the Black Petrel, but their body shape is the same.

I don't live near the ocean so I'm more familiar with animals and birds that live around fresh water lakes and rivers. Right now, in the middle of our winter, many of the our animals are burrowing in the ground to stay warm and many of our birds are flitting about trying to find food under the snow. We've just had a big blizzard so we have feet of snow on the ground. Is that hard to imagine?

I hope you're having a super summer holiday and that you're enjoying these activities. Keep up your great work.

    Cheers,

    Leslie
